Blessing or Curse: You Can Choose
Derek Prince
Baker Books, 1 Sept 2006 | 304 pages
Do you know what forces are influencing your life from day to day?
Life’s trials and triumphs can seem accidental. One person may feel that life is a constant struggle in which pitfalls abound and someone seems out to get him. Another may feel that every day is a gift from God with special blessings just for her. That’s because forces are at work in our lives: the blessings of a loving God or the curses of our spiritual adversary.
A must-read for any Christian wanting to take their faith further
I picked this book up out of fascination with spiritual warfare. A good friend and mentor recommended it, and I had no idea what to expect. Derek Prince gets into the subject quickly, and from the outset I was hooked on understanding how it all works.
The book is built on Scripture and Prince’s years of ministry, and it’s split into three parts:
Blessings and curses: where Scripture explains them and how both apply to your life depending on how you live.
The occult: the different ways it can enter your life, how you or your family may have opened the door, and the part it plays in all this. He also covers the power of spoken curses, over yourself or others.
Breaking free: practical teaching on how to remove curses from your life and how to live in blessing.

To Bless or to Curse?
Prince is excellent at explaining Scripture and how it connects God to us and us to God. He keeps it simple but powerful, so everyday Christians can read this without needing a theology degree.
This is a subject most people don’t want to touch, but we live in a spiritual world, and the supernatural is real. That’s what makes the book so engaging.
The more I read, the more I was thinking ok i have done this and that; it's all making sense.
I came away having learned a lot about how we need to live as Christians and how to avoid putting ourselves at risk of curses. Just as importantly, I came away understanding how blessed we are and how to stay blessed.
I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about fighting the spiritual battle. It gives real insight into what to avoid, and into how God set out his rules for us. It also goes very well with a Bible study on Deuteronomy.
This Book was a real wake-up call and helped me to understand how the spiritual realm works, and why we as Christians get caught up in things we are not aware of.
